4-H Clothing Revue
It was sunny and warm at the Steuben County 4-H clothing revue on Friday night, May 6, at the Avoca Central School. Everyone was on a Hawaiian beach attending a “Sewing Luau”. Raven Foote welcomed the parents and guests. Laura Becker and Denise Schubmehl were commentators for the evening. Tiffany Brown and Hannah Patterson lead the pledge to the American Flag and the 4-H pledge.

Barb Hull and Sue Schwingel organized refreshments for the evening. Judges for the evaluations were Grace Brown, Phyllis Rathbun, Sue Schwingel, Becky Moore, Gwen Gottschall.

“Sew Green” was the theme for the 2010 Steuben County 4-H Clothing Revue held Friday, May 7, at the Avoca Central School. 4-H members led portions of the program: Steven Quanz welcomed the audience, Adrienne Kiesl and Denise Schubmehl were commentators for the evening, Kyle Warner led the pledge to the American flag, and Laura Becker led the 4-H pledge.
This year’s Clothing Revue was dedicated to Karen Flint who lost the battle with ALS in April. She was the leader of the Town and Country 4-H Club, and volunteered for many other 4-H activities. She was a member of the Home Economics Advisory Committee, the Clothing Revue Committee and judged for many years at the Steuben County Fair. She will always be remembered for her enthusiasm and great ideas.

Helper’s Guide

the field of sewing and textiles while developing important
life skills.

4-H members in Steuben County learned a
number of life skills at the annual Clothing Review on
May 4 - from planning an event to creating their own outfits
to modeling. From 60 participants, seven were chosen to
move on to a similar event at the New York State Fair
in August. Also chosen were three alternates. The 2007
theme for the review was Sewing is Heaven in 2007 and
was held at the Avoca Central School.
The seven members chosen to represent Steuben
County at the New York State Fair in 2007 are: Laura Becker,
Maureen Flint, Emily Lyons, Jessika McCombs, Steven Quanz,
Samantha Rathbun, and Sarah Warner. Alternates chosen
were: Harriet Hughes, Jordain Moore, and Sarah Wolcott.

Thielges, Sue Schwingel manned the spotlight. Members
of the Town & Country Club acted as ushers and Jessica
Thielges and Vicki Thielges were in charge of registration.

Steuben County Clothing Revue

The sewing machines have been humming all
around Steuben County. Seventy-one members had their sewing
project evaluated at the North Cohocton or the Bath evaluation
day. The annual Steuben County Clothing Revue was held
at the Avoca Central School on Friday, May 5. The theme
was “Cinco de Mayo-4-H Style”. Adrianna Gricius,
welcomed everyone. Amy Quanz and Sean Schubmehl, the New
York City Career Exploration Award Trip Participants,
were the commentators for the evening. Jeff Kurtz lead
the pledge to the American flag and Sarah Warner and Emily
Lyons lead the 4-H Pledge. The following Junior members
